Otters on a coastal section on the Isle of Skye

We have been studying otters on the southern shore of Loch na Dal, Isle of Skye, since 1989 and have detailed research data since 1999, using direct observation and camera traps.  During this period of  18 years we found that the coastal section had a total of 7 cubs, which represent this female home range having on average 0.38 cubs per year.  This coastal section is prime otter habitat some of the best in Scotland so how can Eurasian Otters ever be “flooding back”.  For more background information follow.
